What NextAuth / Auth.js is
NextAuth.js, also known as Auth.js, is an open-source authentication product for Next.js applications. It is for people adding sign-in and account access to a Next.js app.
It supports sign-in services including Google, Facebook, Auth0 and Apple, alongside email, passwordless, magic-link, username/password, and OAuth 1.0 and 2.0 authentication. It can run with a database or without one, using database sessions or JWTs. It secures web pages and API routes with server-only cookies, CSRF validation and JWT mechanisms.
