Lovable vs Bolt (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say
Lovable is named in 50 of 50 AI answers and first in 40. Bolt is named in 48 and first in 4. Model-by-model counts from ten AI models.
AI models name Lovable more often than Bolt, and they put it first far more often. Lovable appears in 50 of 50 recorded answers and comes first in 40. Bolt appears in 48 of 50 and comes first in 4. The two are close on presence and far apart on order. The counts come from ten AI models answering five fixed buyer questions about AI app builders in the 2026-09 edition.
TL;DR
- Lovable is the default answer. It leads the AI app builder category, and no model names Bolt more often.
- Bolt is the standing second choice. Models include it almost every time and lead with it rarely.
- Sonar Reasoning Pro is the one model that splits them on presence. It names Bolt in 3 of 5 answers.
- Both bill by usage. Lovable sells message credits and Bolt meters tokens.
- Pick on fit. The captured guides tie Bolt to speed and direct code editing, and Lovable to beginners and Supabase apps.
How often do AI models recommend Lovable and Bolt?
AI models name both almost every time, and Lovable comes first far more often. Lovable is the leader of the AI app builder category and Bolt ranks second of the 15 builders the models named.
| Product | Named | Answer share | Named first | First share | Average position | Category rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lovable | 50/50 | Lovable 100% | 40/50 | Lovable 80% | 1.32 | 1 of 15 |
| Bolt | 48/50 | Bolt 96% | 4/50 | Bolt 8% | 2.5 | 2 of 15 |
Answer share is the share of recorded answers that named the product. Named first is the share where it appeared before any other tracked product.
The difference is order. Every answer that names Bolt also names Lovable, because Lovable appears in all 50. Bolt’s named share runs 88 points ahead of its named-first share. Only v0 has a wider gap in the category, at 90 points. Lovable’s gap is 20 points. A gap that wide means the models treat Bolt as a name to include and rarely as the name to lead with.
Which models prefer Lovable, and which prefer Bolt?
No model names Bolt more often than Lovable. All ten models name Lovable in every answer, and nine of the ten do the same for Bolt. Sonar Reasoning Pro is the exception. It names Bolt in 3 of its 5 answers (Bolt 60%).
| Model | Family | Lovable | Bolt |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | OpenAI | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| ChatGPT (GPT-5.6 Terra) | OpenAI | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | OpenAI | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude Opus 5 | Anthropic | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude (Claude Sonnet 5) | Anthropic | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude Fable 5 | Anthropic | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Gemini (Gemini 3.6 Flash) | 5/5 | 5/5 | |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash | 5/5 | 5/5 | |
| Perplexity (Sonar Pro) | Perplexity | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Sonar Reasoning Pro | Perplexity | 5/5 | 3/5 |
OpenAI, Anthropic and Google name Bolt in every one of their answers. Perplexity’s models name it less often (Bolt 80% across the family’s 10 answers). Sonar Reasoning Pro is also where other builders push past Bolt. It names Replit, v0 and Bubble in 4 of 5 answers each, ahead of Bolt’s 3 of 5.
In the other nine models the two tie on presence, so any lean shows up in order. The panel publishes named-first for the whole sample, without a per-model split. The recorded answers still show where the order breaks. Claude opens its answers to “What is the best AI app builder for building a web app from a prompt? Name specific products.” and “I’m building a web app from a prompt and I need an AI app builder. What should I use and why?” with Bolt.new. GPT-5.6 Sol opens the second of those questions with Replit Agent. Sonar Reasoning Pro opens its SaaS MVP answer with Blink and names Lovable as the strongest alternative.
The full per-model record for every builder in the category sits in the AI app builder index.
What do the answers say about each?
The answers cast Lovable as the default for a full-stack MVP and Bolt as the fast alternative.
On Lovable, Gemini names its best fit as “Non-technical founders, marketers, or anyone who wants a full-stack MVP (with backend and database) built purely from text prompts.”
GPT-5.6 Luna is blunter: “Use Lovable if your goal is to turn a prompt into a usable full-stack web app with the least friction.”
On Bolt, Claude calls Bolt.new “Great for generating full-stack apps quickly from a prompt, with live preview and one-click deploy.”
Perplexity recommends Lovable first and adds that “Bolt.new is often the closest alternative for speed”.
A product framed as the alternative gets named often and placed first rarely. Bolt’s counts match that framing.
How do Lovable and Bolt differ?
Both charge by usage, and they meter it differently. Lovable charges per message on a subscription model. Bolt.new charges per token above its free tier. No pricing is recorded in the panel data for either product.
The guides disagree on which meter goes further. Lovable’s own comparison page claims its credits stretch further than Bolt’s on the same task. Lo Zarantonello found Bolt’s token use hard to understand and hard to compare with Lovable.
The audience split follows technical comfort. Autonoma finds that Bolt.new rewards founders who can edit a bit of code or understand basic file structure. The same guide calls Lovable marginally more approachable for people who want to stay entirely in the prompt interface.
The products also come from different places and build on different stacks. Bolt.new is built by StackBlitz. It supports frameworks including Next.js, Remix, Astro and SvelteKit. Lovable was formerly GPT Engineer. It generates React apps with a Tailwind CSS frontend and pushes the code to a connected GitHub repo.
In the recorded answers, Lovable is named for full-stack MVPs built by non-technical founders. Bolt is named for speed and prototypes. ChatGPT’s comparison answer, for example, lists Bolt.new for quick visual prototypes.
On the measured numbers, Lovable leads on all three counts: named, named first and average position. Bolt’s strongest result is its spread. It matches Lovable in nine of the ten models.
When should you pick Lovable?
Pick Lovable if you want the builder AI answers lead with, and your app needs a database from the first build. It is the only product in the category that every model names in all five answers.
- Your app needs a real database from day one. Autonoma ties Lovable’s strongest case to that job through its Supabase integration.
- You want to stay in the chat. Lovable’s own page credits its chat mode and visual editing for making it more accessible.
- You are new to app building. NoCode MBA rates Lovable better for beginners because of its planning stage.
When should you pick Bolt?
Pick Bolt if you will work in the code and want a choice of framework. The models treat it as the main alternative, and nine of the ten name it in every answer.
- You will edit files yourself. Autonoma notes that Bolt.new gives direct access to the file tree and lets you edit files manually.
- Your stack is something other than React and Tailwind. Autonoma rates Bolt.new’s framework flexibility as high and Lovable’s stack as opinionated.
- Speed to a first prototype matters most. NoCode MBA’s Trello-style test had Bolt generating a working app faster.
- Expect Bolt in second place on an AI shortlist. It comes first in 4 of 50 answers.
How this sits against the Lovable vs Bolt guides
The captured guides compare features, and most run their own build test. Each carries a commercial interest: vendor authorship, a referral link, a product of its own or affiliate links.
Lovable publishes its own comparison page, titled “Comparing Bolt vs. Lovable”. It claims a more mature Supabase integration than Bolt’s. It also claims two-way sync with GitHub.
Lo Zarantonello’s article in Artificial Intelligence in Plain English is the oldest dated guide captured. In a single word-search app test, Bolt produced a working prototype and Lovable did not. The article carries a Bolt referral link, and the author earns tokens from sign-ups through it.
Autonoma’s guide is written by Tom Piaggio, a co-founder of Autonoma. It builds the same simple SaaS app on both tools. Bolt.new reached a working deploy faster in that build. Lovable’s first-pass interface looked more professional. The guide promotes Autonoma’s own testing tool. Its verdict names Bolt.new as the better starting point for most non-technical founders building a first MVP. The AI answers lean the other way, with Lovable first in 40 of 50.
NoCode MBA builds a Trello-style task app on both tools. It finds Bolt faster at the first generation. It rates Lovable better for beginners. The page carries an advertiser disclosure for affiliate links.
The models see the same problem in their own sources. Claude Opus 5 warned that “nearly every source below is published by a company that sells one of these tools, and each one happens to rank its own product first.”
The guides compare features and builds. The panel records which names AI answers produce, in what order, for each of ten models.
How the sample was built
The panel asks the same questions of the same models: 10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. One answer is recorded per model-and-question pair. The five questions, verbatim:
- What is the best AI app builder for building a web app from a prompt? Name specific products.
- Which AI app builder would you recommend to building a web app from a prompt in 2026?
- Compare the top AI app builder options right now.
- I’m building a web app from a prompt and I need an AI app builder. What should I use and why?
- Best AI app builder for building a web app from a prompt to vibe code a SaaS MVP?
OpenAI supplies 15 answers from GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT (GPT-5.6 Terra) and GPT-5.6 Luna. Anthropic supplies 15 from Claude Opus 5, Claude (Claude Sonnet 5) and Claude Fable 5. Google supplies 10 from Gemini (Gemini 3.6 Flash) and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Perplexity supplies 10 from Perplexity (Sonar Pro) and Sonar Reasoning Pro.
The edition tracked 17 AI app builders and the models named 15 of them. An answer counts for Bolt when it names “Bolt” or “Bolt.new”. The method sets out what is counted and how.
What these counts cannot tell you
The counts measure presence and order in recorded AI answers. They do not measure build quality, speed, price, support or fit with your stack.
- Each model gave one response per question, so a single answer moves a count.
- The figures are one dated snapshot from the 2026-09 edition. Later editions can differ.
- Names are matched as strings. Bolt counts under “Bolt” and “Bolt.new”.
- Answers come through model APIs, and consumer chat apps can answer differently.
- All five prompts are in English.
- Being named differs from being recommended. An answer can list a product only to warn against it.
- Named first is published for the whole panel, without a per-model split.
Frequently asked questions
What is better than Lovable AI?
No model in the panel names another AI app builder more often than Lovable, which appears in 50 of 50 answers. The next most-named are Bolt (48 of 50), Replit (46 of 50) and v0 (45 of 50). Bolt comes first in 4 answers and Replit in 2. Which one suits your app is a question the counts leave open.
Which is cheaper, Bolt or Lovable?
The captured guides disagree, and the panel does not measure price. NoCode MBA says Bolt typically offers better value for heavy usage. Autonoma finds rapid iteration expensive on both platforms. Lovable’s own page claims its model needs fewer credits for the same tasks. Compare both current pricing pages against the number of prompts you expect to send.
Is Lovable actually worth it?
Worth depends on your app and budget, and the panel measures neither. It does show that every model names Lovable in all five answers and that Lovable comes first in 40 of 50. On cost, Lovable charges per message on a subscription. In one single-app test, the reviewer ran out of Lovable’s daily free credits before its chat fixed the app.
Which AI app builder is better for me, Lovable, Base44, or Bolt?
On AI naming, Lovable leads, Bolt follows closely and Base44 sits well back. Base44 is named in 19 of 50 answers and first in 1, at an average position of 4.26. Its strongest model is Gemini 3.5 Flash, which names it in every answer (Base44 100%). Claude Fable 5 names it in 4 of 5. Between Lovable and Bolt, NoCode MBA points beginners and Supabase apps to Lovable and rapid prototyping to Bolt.
Is Bolt the same as Bolt.new?
Yes, for counting purposes. An answer counts for Bolt when it names “Bolt” or “Bolt.new”. The captured guides use both names for the same product.
Can a vendor pay to be named more often?
No. Positions are not sold, and vendors cannot pay to appear, be reordered or be removed. Every count comes from the recorded model answers in the AI app builder index.
