Kajabi vs Thinkific (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say
Kajabi is named in 50 of 50 AI answers and Thinkific in 48. See which models lean to each, how their pricing models differ, and when each one fits.
Kajabi is named in 50 of 50 recorded AI answers. Thinkific is named in 48 of 50. Kajabi is named first in 15 of 50 answers and Thinkific in 14 of 50. On both measures the gap is narrow, so the models treat the pair as near equals, not as a leader and a follower. These counts come from the 2026-09 edition, where ten AI models were asked where a creator should sell a course. The page counts names. It does not rate either product.
TL;DR
- Presence will not separate these two. The answers name Kajabi 100% of the time and Thinkific 96% of the time.
- The split shows in the defaults, not the totals. Asked which platform they would recommend in 2026, the OpenAI and Perplexity models name Thinkific as their default. Claude and Gemini open several answers with Kajabi under an all-in-one heading.
- The captured comparison pages describe the same trade. FreshLearn puts Kajabi at the highest price point of the platforms it compares, with email marketing, funnels and coaching bundled in. It says Thinkific needs third-party tools for serious marketing.
- Choose on the stack you already run. The counts cannot tell you which product will suit your business.
How often do AI models recommend Kajabi and Thinkific?
Kajabi leads Thinkific on every measured column, and the margin on each is small. Both sit at the top of the Online course platforms category, which tracks 15 products.
| Product | Named | Answer share | Named first | First share | Average position | Category rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kajabi | 50/50 | Kajabi 100% | 15/50 | Kajabi 30% | 2.3 | 1 of 15 |
| Thinkific | 48/50 | Thinkific 96% | 14/50 | Thinkific 28% | 2.58 | 2 of 15 |
Kajabi is the category leader, so the table needs no separate reference row. Answer share is the share of recorded answers that name the product. Named first is the share of answers where it appears before any other tracked product. Average position is where the product sits, on average, in the order of products an answer names. Lower means earlier.
The more useful number is the distance between being named and being named first. Kajabi’s gap is 70 points. Thinkific’s is 68 points. Both products appear in almost every answer, but most answers put something else at the top or open with a framing that names several products at once. The first slot is spread across the category. Teachable is named first in 10 of 50 answers and Maven, a cohort-course platform, in 6 of 50.
So a buyer should read the table as a tie on visibility with a slight lean to Kajabi. Neither product is missing from the conversation. The full record, with every answer and cited source, is on the online course platforms index.
Which models prefer Kajabi, and which prefer Thinkific?
On presence alone, every model leans to Kajabi or treats the two as equal. All ten models name Kajabi in 5 of 5 answers. Eight models name Thinkific in 5 of 5 answers. GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude name it in 4 of 5.
| Model | Kajabi | Thinkific |
|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | 5/5 | 4/5 |
| ChatGPT | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude Opus 5 | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude | 5/5 | 4/5 |
| Claude Fable 5 | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Gemini | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Perplexity | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Sonar Reasoning Pro | 5/5 | 5/5 |
By family, Kajabi is named in every answer from all four. Thinkific’s family shares run lower on two of them: Thinkific 93.3% of OpenAI answers and of Anthropic answers, against Thinkific 100% of Google and Perplexity answers.
The counts stop at presence. The answer text shows a sharper lean, and this part is a reading of the recorded answers, not a count.
The clearest divide is on one question: “Which platform to sell an online course would you recommend to a creator in 2026?” GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Luna, Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro each answer it by naming Thinkific as their default. That is every OpenAI model and both Perplexity models giving the same single-product answer.
Claude and Gemini lean the other way. Both open several answers with Kajabi, placed first under an all-in-one or business-hub heading. Gemini makes Kajabi its top recommendation on the same 2026 question that the OpenAI models answer with Thinkific. That is the sharpest disagreement in the panel: the same prompt, a different default, depending on which model answers.
Two models hold both positions. GPT-5.6 Sol heads its answer to the first question with Kajabi as best overall, then recommends Thinkific in its answers to the 2026, comparison and “what should I use” questions. Claude Fable 5 puts Kajabi at the top of its comparison answer and Thinkific at the top of its first-time-creator pick. Claude Opus 5 lists Thinkific first in its comparison answer.
The cohort-course question pulls several models away from both products. Maven heads the answers from GPT-5.6 Sol and ChatGPT, and Circle heads GPT-5.6 Luna’s. Perplexity goes the other way and calls Kajabi the strongest all-in-one fit for a premium cohort course. Sonar Reasoning Pro names Kajabi or Thinkific as its pair of picks.
What do the answers say about each?
The recorded answers frame Kajabi as the all-in-one choice with a price premium, and Thinkific as the course-first choice.
On Kajabi, Claude describes it as “The go-to all-in-one option for creators who want everything (courses, website, email marketing, funnels, payments) under one login.”
GPT-5.6 Sol names the trade-off in the same sentence as the benefit: “It reduces the need to connect several separate tools, although it is typically a premium-priced option.”
On Thinkific, GPT-5.6 Luna says it “offers strong course-building and student-learning features without forcing you to pay for a large all-in-one marketing suite you may not use.”
Claude Opus 5 calls Thinkific ‘the most common “best overall” pick.’
Sonar Reasoning Pro places Kajabi later in a creator’s path. It says Kajabi “makes sense once your business is more established and complex.”
How do Kajabi and Thinkific differ?
Kajabi sells a bundled marketing platform at a higher entry price, and Thinkific sells a course platform with lower entry pricing and outside tools for heavier marketing. The detail below comes from the captured comparison pages. The panel does not record prices.
Kajabi’s pricing model. Kajabi sells three plans: Basic, Growth and Pro. Its lower-tier plans carry product limits. Kajabi Payments carries no extra transaction fee, and a third-party processor adds one. FreshLearn places Kajabi at the highest price point of the three platforms it compares.
Who Kajabi is for. Linodash describes it as a platform for creators, knowledge entrepreneurs and online coaches who want an all-in-one platform. Podia’s page says Kajabi makes sense for an established coach or course creator who depends on marketing automation and funnels. The recorded answers name it the same way, as the all-in-one option. They cite kajabi.com 11 times.
Thinkific’s pricing model. Thinkific’s core plans are Basic, Start and Grow, with a custom-priced Thinkific Plus tier above them. Every plan except Thinkific Plus carries a student limit. FreshLearn says Thinkific charges a penalty fee to sellers who do not use Thinkific Payments.
Who Thinkific is for. Linodash describes it as a fit for educators, course creators, businesses and online learning institutions that need a dedicated learning platform. Course Platforms Review calls it a course-only platform, in contrast to Kajabi’s all-in-one design. The recorded answers name it as the course-first default. They cite thinkific.com 8 times.
The captured pages do not agree on every Thinkific fact. FreshLearn says Thinkific offers unlimited students. Podia’s page says every plan except Thinkific Plus has a student limit. On email, Course Platforms Review says Thinkific has no integrated email marketing. Podia’s page describes a Thinkific email automation tool for building funnels. Where the pages conflict, this page does not settle it. Check the vendor’s own plan page before you buy.
When should you pick Kajabi?
Pick Kajabi if you want email, landing pages and funnels on the same plan as your courses, and your budget can carry the higher entry price.
- It is the one product every model names in every answer: 50 of 50, and first in 15 of 50.
- Claude and Gemini put it at the top of their all-in-one recommendations.
- Every Kajabi plan includes unlimited marketing emails, landing pages and funnels.
- Coaching is a native Kajabi product type, according to FreshLearn.
- For a course with a community around it, Linodash calls Kajabi the stronger option.
- FreshLearn says Kajabi works for established businesses that can absorb the base fee.
When should you pick Thinkific?
Pick Thinkific if course structure and assessment matter more than built-in marketing, and you already run email and funnel tools elsewhere.
- GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Luna, Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro each name it as their default when asked which platform they would recommend in 2026.
- Named in 48 of 50 answers, it appears in every Google and Perplexity answer.
- All plans allow unlimited courses, according to Podia’s comparison.
- Linodash’s testing found that Thinkific outclasses Kajabi for online learning.
- If a marketing stack is already in place, Linodash says leaning on outside marketing tools is not much of an issue.
- Larger operations can move to Thinkific Plus, which adds CRM integrations, SSO and SCORM compliance.
How this sits against the Kajabi vs Thinkific guides
The ranking comparison pages judge features and price. This page counts what AI answers name. The four captured guides below each carry a commercial interest worth knowing.
FreshLearn compares Teachable, Thinkific and Kajabi on price, course building and marketing. It scores each of the three platforms in its feature table. It closes its summary by pitching FreshLearn as the lower-cost alternative.
Linodash says it tested both platforms hands-on. Its verdict splits the pair: Thinkific for online learning, Kajabi for community. Its product links run through linodash.com/visit/ redirect paths.
Podia publishes its comparison under a Podia senior content marketer’s byline. It presents Podia as a third option throughout. It is also the most detailed on plan structure of the four captured pages, including which limits apply to which tier.
Course Platforms Review carries an advertiser disclosure. It says commissions from sponsored affiliate links may affect its rankings and scores. It still describes Thinkific’s free plan as outstanding. Podia’s page says Thinkific retired its free plan. Perplexity’s recorded answers also describe Thinkific as offering a free plan. That is an AI answer repeating a claim that a newer comparison page says is out of date.
None of these pages reports which product AI models name, which model leans where, or what the answers say. That is the material this page adds: the per-model split, the family-level divide on the 2026 question, and the verbatim answers behind it.
How the sample was built
10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. Each model answered each question once, in the 2026-09 edition of the Online course platforms category. The category question is “Where do AI models tell you to sell a course?”
The five questions, verbatim:
- What is the best platform to sell an online course for a creator? Name specific products.
- Which platform to sell an online course would you recommend to a creator in 2026?
- Compare the top platform to sell an online course options right now.
- I’m a creator and I need a platform to sell an online course. What should I use and why?
- Best platform to sell an online course for selling a cohort-based course?
The ten models come from four families. OpenAI supplies GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT (run as GPT-5.6 Terra) and GPT-5.6 Luna, for 15 answers. Anthropic supplies Claude Opus 5, Claude (run as Claude Sonnet 5) and Claude Fable 5, for 15 answers. Google supplies Gemini (run as Gemini 3.6 Flash) and Gemini 3.5 Flash, for 10 answers. Perplexity supplies Perplexity (run as Sonar Pro) and Sonar Reasoning Pro, for 10 answers. The full method is on the method page.
What these counts cannot tell you
The counts measure presence in recorded answers. They say nothing about product quality, support, uptime, pricing fairness or fit with your stack. Being named is not the same as being recommended, because an answer can name a product only to set it aside. Each model answered each question once, so one answer can move a per-model count. The data is one dated snapshot. Products are matched by name string, so an unusual spelling could be missed. API answers can differ from what the consumer chat apps show, and all five prompts are in English. Prices and plan limits on this page come from third-party comparison pages, which disagree in places and change over time.
Frequently asked questions
What are the downsides of Kajabi?
The captured comparison pages name these. Kajabi’s Basic plan caps products and contacts, according to Podia’s comparison. Linodash found that Kajabi supports fewer lesson types than Thinkific. FreshLearn calls Kajabi a very tough entry point for lean beginners. In the panel, Kajabi is named in every answer but first in only 15 of 50.
Is there anything better than Kajabi?
The panel cannot say whether any product is better. It can say that no course platform is named more often: Kajabi appears in all 50 recorded answers, and Thinkific is next at 48 of 50. For specific cases the models name other products first. Maven heads cohort-course answers from GPT-5.6 Sol and ChatGPT, and is named first in 6 of 50 answers overall.
What are the disadvantages of Thinkific?
The captured pages list several. Thinkific’s Basic plan does not include paid memberships, according to Podia’s comparison. The same page says Thinkific does not include a blog. Linodash found its marketing tools fairly basic. FreshLearn says skipping Thinkific Payments triggers a penalty fee. In the panel, GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude each named Thinkific in 4 of 5 answers.
Why is Kajabi so expensive?
The captured pages tie Kajabi’s price to what it bundles. FreshLearn says Kajabi bundles courses, email marketing, funnels and coaching in one platform. Course Platforms Review argues that the higher price covers tools a Thinkific user pays for separately. Podia’s comparison says Thinkific is cheaper at every comparable tier. Recorded answers from GPT-5.6 Sol, Claude and Perplexity also frame Kajabi as the premium option.
Does Thinkific still have a free plan?
Podia’s comparison says Thinkific retired its free plan. Course Platforms Review still describes a Thinkific free plan. Perplexity’s recorded answers do the same. Check Thinkific’s own pricing page for the current plan list.
Can Kajabi or Thinkific pay to change these counts?
No. The publication takes no affiliate money and sells no rank. Vendors cannot pay to appear, be reordered or be removed. Every count on this page comes from the recorded answers of the 2026-09 edition.
