HubSpot vs Pipedrive (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say

Both appear in 50 of 50 AI answers. HubSpot is named first in 32, Pipedrive in 8. The model-by-model split, recorded quotes and how the pricing models differ.

50 of 50 recorded AI answers name both HubSpot and Pipedrive. On presence, the counts are level. The split is order. HubSpot is named first in 32 of 50 answers and Pipedrive in 8 of 50. Every model puts both on the shortlist, and most answers put HubSpot at the top of it.

These counts come from the 2026-09 edition of the CRM for startups panel. They measure what AI answers name. Product quality sits outside the count.

TL;DR

How often do AI models recommend HubSpot and Pipedrive?

Both are named in 50 of 50 answers. HubSpot is named first in 32 of 50 and Pipedrive in 8 of 50. HubSpot is also the category leader.

Product Named Share Named first First share Average position Category rank
HubSpot 50/50 100% 32/50 64% 1.5 1 of 13 named
Pipedrive 50/50 100% 8/50 16% 2.72 2 of 13 named

The gap sits entirely in position. When an answer lists CRMs, HubSpot usually comes first and Pipedrive usually comes second or later. The average positions show it: HubSpot at 1.5 and Pipedrive at 2.72.

The named-versus-first gap puts a number on it. Pipedrive is named in every answer but first in few, a gap of 84 points. Pipedrive’s gap is the widest of the 13 products named in this category. HubSpot’s gap is 36 points. Pipedrive is the product the models add to the list. HubSpot is the product they lead with.

The full category record, with every answer and the other products, is on the CRM for startups index.

Which models prefer HubSpot, and which prefer Pipedrive?

No model leaves either product out. All ten models name HubSpot in 5 of 5 answers and Pipedrive in 5 of 5 answers. The preference shows up in each answer’s headline pick, and that pick depends on the question asked.

The table below reads the headline pick from each model’s recorded answers to the small-team and solo-founder questions. The picks are a reading of the answer text. The named counts are measured.

Model HubSpot named Pipedrive named Small sales team question Solo founder question
GPT-5.6 Sol 5/5 5/5 Pipedrive Growth HubSpot Free
ChatGPT 5/5 5/5 Pipedrive HubSpot Free
GPT-5.6 Luna 5/5 5/5 Pipedrive Growth HubSpot CRM Free

The OpenAI models lean by question. GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Luna give the small-team question to Pipedrive and the solo-founder question to HubSpot’s free tier. On the early-stage question, ChatGPT puts Attio ahead of HubSpot. On the 50-rep question, ChatGPT picks Freshsales and both GPT-5.6 models pick Zoho CRM.

The Anthropic models split among themselves. Claude and Claude Fable 5 match the OpenAI pattern on the small-team and solo-founder questions. Claude Opus 5 is the only model whose small-team pick is HubSpot. On the 50-rep question, Claude Opus 5 gives Pipedrive and HubSpot Sales Hub together as its short answer.

The Google models hold the sharpest disagreement. Gemini names Close first for the small team and Attio for the solo founder. On the 50-rep question it singles out HubSpot as the product to avoid. Gemini 3.5 Flash advises against standard HubSpot for a small team. It also cites HubSpot as an example of an upgrade tax at scale. Neither Google model gives the small-team question a single default.

The Perplexity models hold the clearest line. Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro make Pipedrive the default for the small team. Both make HubSpot the default for the solo founder, the early-stage startup and the startup scaling to 50 reps.

On the early-stage question, HubSpot heads the answer from every model except ChatGPT and Gemini 3.5 Flash. ChatGPT leads with Attio. Gemini 3.5 Flash splits its answer by use case.

What do the answers say about each?

The recorded answers give each product a different job. These short quotes from the run show it.

The Gemini quote carries a lesson for reading the counts. That answer names HubSpot, and the name counts toward HubSpot’s 50 of 50. The answer names it as a warning.

How do HubSpot and Pipedrive differ?

They differ first on entry price and then on scope. The captured comparison pages agree on the broad split.

Pricing model

HubSpot’s entry point is a free CRM tier with a user cap. Its paid Sales Hub tiers are priced per seat. The Professional and Enterprise tiers each carry a mandatory one-time onboarding fee. Paid plans include HubSpot Credits that meter use of AI agents.

Pipedrive has no free plan and offers a free trial. It sells per-seat plans named Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate. Add-ons such as LeadBooster and Campaigns are priced separately.

Both vendors change their plans regularly. HubSpot’s own comparison page tells buyers to verify current pricing on both vendors’ websites.

Who each is for

Avoma describes Pipedrive as a visual, sales-first CRM. It describes HubSpot as a broader platform where the CRM is one part of a marketing, sales, service and AI suite.

The vendors describe themselves in the same terms. HubSpot calls itself an Agentic Customer Platform with AI built into every part of the product. Pipedrive says it offers a simpler, more intuitive user interface. Pipedrive’s page also describes HubSpot’s Sales Hub as a platform for larger sales teams.

What the models name each for

The recorded answers repeat the same split. HubSpot is named for a free start and for marketing and sales in one system. Pipedrive is named for a simple, visual pipeline and quick adoption by a small team.

When should you pick HubSpot?

Pick HubSpot if you want the product AI answers lead with, or if you need more than a sales pipeline.

The measured caution sits with Google’s models. Both Gemini answers to the 50-rep question warn about HubSpot’s cost as a team grows.

When should you pick Pipedrive?

Pick Pipedrive if you run a small sales team and want a sales-only CRM.

The measured caution is order. Pipedrive is named first in 8 of 50 answers (Pipedrive 16%). Outside the small-team question, the models rarely lead with it.

How this sits against the HubSpot vs Pipedrive guides

Three captured pages rank for this query. HubSpot and Pipedrive wrote two of them.

HubSpot’s page leads with AI agents built into the CRM. Its feature grid compares HubSpot Sales Hub Professional with Pipedrive Ultimate. A footnote asks buyers to verify pricing and features directly with both vendors.

Pipedrive’s page frames the difference between the products as complexity. It closes with steps for importing HubSpot data into Pipedrive.

Avoma’s guide is written by Vaishali Badgujar. It discloses that Avoma integrates with both products. It scores both on ease of use, product capabilities, pricing, scalability and integrations. Its verdict sends small budgets to Pipedrive.

Those pages compare features. This page counts what AI answers name, model by model, from recorded answers.

How the sample was built

The panel ran 10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. It recorded one answer per model and question. The models come from the OpenAI family (GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Luna), the Anthropic family (Claude Opus 5, Claude, Claude Fable 5), the Google family (Gemini, Gemini 3.5 Flash) and the Perplexity family (Perplexity, Sonar Reasoning Pro).

The five questions, verbatim:

  1. What is the best CRM for an early-stage startup? Name specific products.
  2. Which CRM should a 5-person B2B SaaS sales team use?
  3. Compare the top CRMs for startups in 2026.
  4. I’m a founder doing my own sales. Which CRM do you recommend?
  5. Best affordable CRM for a startup that will scale to 50 reps?

The panel tracks 14 products in this category, and 13 were named. The method page sets out how answers are recorded and counted.

What these counts cannot tell you

The counts measure whether an answer names a product and where. They say nothing about uptime, support, pricing fairness or fit with your stack. A name can be a warning, as Gemini’s HubSpot answer shows. Each model answered each question once, so the counts are a dated snapshot from the 2026-09 edition. Names are matched as strings. Answers came through model APIs, and consumer chat apps can answer differently. The prompts were in English and framed around startups. For these two products the named count is tied, so it cannot rank them.
