Hostinger vs Squarespace (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say
AI models name Hostinger in 38 of 50 answers and Squarespace in 35. See which of 10 models leans which way, and when each builder fits.
The models name Hostinger more often, by a small margin. Hostinger appears in 38 of 50 recorded answers and Squarespace in 35 of 50. Named first runs the other way: Squarespace comes first in 2 of 50 answers, Hostinger in 1 of 50. Neither product leads the category. This page reports what AI answers name in the 2026-09 edition, not which product is better.
TL;DR
- The totals are close. The split by model is not. Google’s two models name Hostinger in every answer and Squarespace in half of them.
- OpenAI and Perplexity models lean the other way, toward Squarespace. The three Claude models sit closest to even.
- Both are named as alternatives, rarely as the answer. The gap between named and named first is 74 points for Hostinger and 66 points for Squarespace.
- The answers attach Hostinger to budget and speed, and Squarespace to design polish. The captured comparison guides draw the same line.
- Choose on the job the site has to do. If one assistant is where you research, read its row in the split below before reading the totals.
How often do AI models recommend Hostinger and Squarespace?
Hostinger reaches more answers. Squarespace sits earlier in the answers that name it. Wix, the category leader, is included as a reference row because it is neither product.
| Product | Named | Answer share | Named first | First share | Average position | Category rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wix (category leader, reference) | 48/50 | 96% | 37/50 | 74% | 1.58 | 1 |
| Hostinger | 38/50 | 76% | 1/50 | 2% | 3.16 | 2 |
| Squarespace | 35/50 | 70% | 2/50 | 4% | 2.86 | 3 |
Answer share is the share of the 50 recorded answers that named the product. Named first counts the answers where it appeared before any other tracked product. A lower average position means the product tends to appear earlier in the answer.
The two products sit side by side, second and third among the 16 builders the models named. The difference between them is small next to the distance both keep from Wix. Hostinger’s lead is reach. Squarespace’s edge is placement: the better average position and the higher named-first count. Neither is the model’s default answer. Both turn up as the product a model suggests after it has named something else.
Which models prefer Hostinger, and which prefer Squarespace?
Four models name Hostinger more often, three name Squarespace more often, and three name both equally. “Prefer” here means named in more of that model’s 5 answers. It says nothing about why.
| Model | Family | Hostinger | Squarespace | Leans |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | OpenAI | 2/5 | 4/5 | Squarespace |
| GPT-5.6 Terra (ChatGPT slot) | OpenAI | 2/5 | 3/5 | Squarespace |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | OpenAI | 4/5 | 3/5 | Hostinger |
| Claude Opus 5 | Anthropic | 4/5 | 4/5 | Even |
| Claude Sonnet 5 (Claude slot) | Anthropic | 5/5 | 5/5 | Even |
| Claude Fable 5 | Anthropic | 4/5 | 3/5 | Hostinger |
| Gemini 3.6 Flash (Gemini slot) | 5/5 | 3/5 | Hostinger | |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash | 5/5 | 2/5 | Hostinger | |
| Sonar Pro | Perplexity | 4/5 | 4/5 | Even |
| Sonar Reasoning Pro | Perplexity | 3/5 | 4/5 | Squarespace |
The sharpest disagreement is inside two families that point opposite ways. Gemini 3.5 Flash names Hostinger in 5 of 5 answers and Squarespace in 2 of 5. GPT-5.6 Sol reverses it: Squarespace in 4 of 5, Hostinger in 2 of 5.
By family, Google is the most one-sided: Hostinger 100% against Squarespace 50%. Anthropic leans Hostinger by less, with Hostinger 86.7% and Squarespace 80%. OpenAI leans Squarespace, with Squarespace 66.7% and Hostinger 53.3%. Perplexity also leans Squarespace, with Squarespace 80% and Hostinger 70%.
Two models go further for Hostinger. The figure sheet lists it as the leading product for Claude Sonnet 5 and for Gemini 3.5 Flash. Wix leads the other eight. Squarespace leads no model, although Claude Sonnet 5 names it in all five answers too.
For a buyer, the practical reading is simple. Ask a Gemini model and Hostinger almost always comes up. Ask GPT-5.6 Sol and Squarespace is the likelier name. The three Claude models sit closest to even.
What do the answers say about each?
The answers name Hostinger for cost and speed, and Squarespace for design. Five short quotes from the recorded answers show the pattern.
On Hostinger, Claude Sonnet 5 wrote:
“Hostinger generates a complete site in under a minute at a low monthly price, making it ideal for a first website.”
Gemini 3.5 Flash set its limit in the same answer that recommended it:
“It is not built for complex websites; it is best for service providers, local shops, portfolios, and simple landing pages.”
On Squarespace, Gemini 3.6 Flash wrote:
“Squarespace’s AI guided builder ensures that whatever layout it generates, it looks polished and professionally designed right out of the box.”
Sonar Reasoning Pro put it as the fallback to its first pick:
“If visual design polish matters more than flexibility, my main alternative would be Squarespace AI.”
The fifth quote is about the sources behind all of these answers. It appears in the guides section below.
How do Hostinger and Squarespace differ?
They differ on how the price is structured, who the guides aim them at, and what the models name them for. The panel records no prices. Every pricing line below comes from a captured guide.
Pricing model: Hostinger. HostAdvice lists Hostinger’s builder at an introductory monthly rate that renews at a higher rate. Website Builder Expert ties Hostinger’s quoted prices to a long prepaid term. It records no free plan for Hostinger. It also records that selling products needs the Business Website Builder plan. HostAdvice records no transaction fees on Hostinger’s store.
Pricing model: Squarespace. HostAdvice lists Squarespace with monthly and annual billing. Website Builder Expert records a free trial and no free plan for Squarespace. It records that you can sell online with any Squarespace plan. HostAdvice records a transaction fee on Squarespace’s lower-tier plans.
Who each is for, according to the guides. Website Builder Expert recommends Hostinger for freelancers and budget-conscious users. It recommends Squarespace for creatives, portfolios and service-based businesses. LitExtension aims Hostinger at small businesses, freelancers and individuals starting out online. It aims Squarespace at photographers, designers, artists and bloggers, as well as small business owners.
What the models name each for. The recorded answers match the guides. Hostinger is attached to budget, speed and simple sites. Squarespace is attached to visual design and polish. Sonar Reasoning Pro also names Squarespace, alongside Shopify, for a business whose main focus is selling online.
When should you pick Hostinger?
Pick Hostinger if cost is the constraint that decides the build and you want the builder that more AI answers name. Each reason below is a panel count or a claim from a captured guide.
Reasons that favour it:
- Named in 38 of 50 answers, second in the category.
- Every answer from Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash includes it.
- Website Builder Expert lists an AI website builder and a large suite of AI tools among its strengths.
- HostAdvice recorded 24/7 live chat support.
Where it falls short:
- First in only 1 of 50 answers, so the models rarely lead with it.
- Website Builder Expert notes no app market for extra functionality.
- LitExtension rates it less suitable for complex websites or large online stores.
When should you pick Squarespace?
Pick Squarespace if the look of the site carries the sale and you use an OpenAI or Perplexity model to research. Each reason below is a panel count or a claim from a captured guide.
Reasons that favour it:
- An average position of 2.86 against Hostinger’s 3.16, so it tends to appear earlier when named.
- The OpenAI and Perplexity families name it more often than Hostinger.
- HostAdvice connected Mailchimp, Instagram and Google Analytics without extra setup.
Where it falls short:
- Gemini 3.5 Flash names it in just 2 of 5 answers.
- Website Builder Expert notes no autosave feature.
- Website Builder Expert also says it falls behind on AI features.
How this sits against the Hostinger vs Squarespace guides
The ranking guides test features and pick a winner. This page counts which names AI answers produce. Five results from the Australian results page were fetched, and three returned readable text.
HostAdvice. The comparison by Walter Akolo puts Hostinger on top overall. It gives Squarespace the features category. The page carries an advertising disclosure. Its footer states that it receives compensation from some of the companies it lists.
LitExtension. The guide by Ani Duong splits the categories between the two. It gives pricing and hosting to Hostinger. It gives design, ecommerce and marketing to Squarespace. It calls ease of use and support a tie. The blog’s own navigation promotes LitExtension’s ecommerce migration service.
Website Builder Expert. The page compares both products with Wix and names Wix its top choice. It labels Squarespace best for beginners and Hostinger best budget builder. It states that it may receive a commission from partners.
Not captured. A TechRadar comparison ranks for the query, but the fetch returned only its navigation, so this page does not describe its argument. A Reddit thread returned an access error. Squarespace also publishes its own comparison page against Hostinger, which ranks for the same query. That is vendor-authored material and was not fetched.
The distinction matters because the models read pages like these. Claude Opus 5 flagged it before answering:
“nearly every “best AI website builder” list you’ll find is affiliate-monetized”
Those guides compare features and assign category winners. This page adds what none of them measure: how often each product is named across 50 recorded answers, and which of ten models name which. The full category record holds every answer.
How the sample was built
10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. Each model answered each question once, with web search on. The five questions, verbatim:
- What is the best AI website builder for a small business? Name specific products.
- Which AI website builder would you recommend to a small business in 2026?
- Compare the top AI website builder options right now.
- I’m a small business and I need an AI website builder. What should I use and why?
- Best AI website builder for a startup landing page?
The ten models by family: OpenAI (GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra, GPT-5.6 Luna), Anthropic (Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Fable 5), Google (Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash) and Perplexity (Sonar Pro, Sonar Reasoning Pro). OpenAI and Anthropic each contribute 15 answers. Google and Perplexity each contribute 10. GPT-5.6 Terra fills the panel’s ChatGPT slot, Claude Sonnet 5 the Claude slot and Gemini 3.6 Flash the Gemini slot.
The panel tracked 17 vendors in this category and the models named 16. Dorik was never named. The method sets out how answers are recorded and counted.
What these counts cannot tell you
These counts measure presence in AI answers. They do not measure product quality, price fairness, uptime, support or fit with your stack. Being named is not the same as being recommended, because an answer can name a product to warn against it.
Each model answered each question once, so one different response can move a per-model count by a full step. This is one dated snapshot from the 2026-09 edition. Names are matched on strings, so a mention of any product carrying the Hostinger name counts as Hostinger. Answers came through each provider’s API and can differ from the consumer chat apps. The prompts are in English and ask about AI website builders for small businesses and startup landing pages, not about hosting or large online stores. The guide comparison rests on three readable captures out of five attempts.
Frequently asked questions
What is the downside of Hostinger?
In AI answers, the measured downside is placement. The models name Hostinger in 38 of 50 answers but put it first in just 1. On the product itself, LitExtension says its builder is limited in design flexibility and integrations compared with Squarespace or Wix. Website Builder Expert lists a lack of scalability among its areas to improve.
Is Squarespace still good in 2026?
The panel cannot grade that, because it counts names, not quality. In the 2026-09 edition the models named Squarespace in 35 of 50 answers, third among 16 named builders. Website Builder Expert rates it best for beginners in its three-way comparison.
Is there anything better than Squarespace?
“Better” is not measured here. Two products are named more often: Wix and Hostinger. LitExtension points to Wix for more creative control. It points to Shopify for serious online stores.
Which hosting service is better than Hostinger?
The panel does not measure hosting, only AI website builders. LitExtension names SiteGround and Bluehost as alternatives that may offer better support or more advanced hosting features. It names DigitalOcean and Cloudways for more backend control or scalability.
Which one does ChatGPT name more, Hostinger or Squarespace?
Squarespace, narrowly. GPT-5.6 Terra, which fills the panel’s ChatGPT slot, named Squarespace in 3 of 5 answers and Hostinger in 2 of 5. The other OpenAI models split: GPT-5.6 Sol leans Squarespace and GPT-5.6 Luna leans Hostinger.
