The models come from four families. OpenAI (GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Luna) and Anthropic (Claude Opus 5, Claude, Claude Fable 5) supplied 15 answers each. Google (Gemini, Gemini 3.5 Flash) and Perplexity (Perplexity, Sonar Reasoning Pro) supplied 10 each. What these counts cannot tell you
The counts record presence in AI answers. They say nothing about which product edits better, clips better, costs less or supports customers better. Being named also differs from being recommended, because an answer can name a product to set it aside.
Each model answered each question once, in English, through its API. Consumer chat apps can answer differently. The counts are one dated snapshot from September 2026. All five questions ask about clipping long videos, mostly for podcasters, so Descript’s other uses sit outside what was asked. Cited-host counts reflect the citations returned in the recorded API responses, and coverage varies by model.
