CodeRabbit vs Qodo (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say
CodeRabbit is named in 50 of 50 AI answers and first in 37. Qodo is named in 43 and first in 1. The model-by-model split, pricing models and when each fits.
CodeRabbit is named more often. It appears in 50 of 50 recorded AI answers and is named first in 37 of 50. Qodo appears in 43 of 50 and is named first in 1 of 50. The named counts sit close together. The named-first counts sit far apart. The figures come from ten AI models answering five fixed buyer questions about AI code review in the 2026-09 edition. They count names and carry no verdict on either product’s quality.
TL;DR
- CodeRabbit is the name the models put first most often. Qodo makes most shortlists and is almost never first.
- No model names Qodo more often than CodeRabbit. Qodo’s coverage runs from 5 of 5 in five models down to 3 of 5 in the two Perplexity models.
- Qodo is the second most named of 13 tools, yet it carries the widest named-versus-first gap in the category, at 84 points. A buyer who reads only the first name in an answer will rarely see it.
- Levelop links CodeRabbit to precision and low review noise. Qodo’s own comparison positions Qodo for rule enforcement across repositories.
How often do AI models recommend CodeRabbit and Qodo?
CodeRabbit leads Qodo on every measured column, and the gap is widest on first place.
| Vendor | Named | Share | Named first | First share | Avg position | Category rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CodeRabbit | 50/50 | 100% | 37/50 | 74% | 1.58 | 1 of 13 named |
| Qodo | 43/50 | 86% | 1/50 | 2% | 3.56 | 2 of 13 named |
CodeRabbit is also the category leader for AI code review, so no separate reference row is needed. The full table for all 13 named tools is on the AI code review index.
Presence is close, and position is where the two separate. CodeRabbit averages position 1.58 in the answers that name it. Qodo averages 3.56, so the models tend to list it after other tools.
The named-versus-first gap puts that pattern in one number. Qodo’s gap is 84 points, the widest of any tool in the category. CodeRabbit’s gap is 26 points. For a buyer, Qodo sits on nearly every shortlist the models write, and it almost never heads one.
Which models prefer CodeRabbit, and which prefer Qodo?
No model names Qodo more often than CodeRabbit. Five models name both in every answer. The other five name CodeRabbit in every answer and Qodo in fewer.
| Model | CodeRabbit | Qodo |
|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| ChatGPT | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | 5/5 | 4/5 |
| Claude Opus 5 | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Claude | 5/5 | 4/5 |

| Gemini | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash | 5/5 | 5/5 |
| Perplexity | 5/5 | 3/5 |
| Sonar Reasoning Pro | 5/5 | 3/5 |
Qodo draws level in the Google models. Gemini and Gemini 3.5 Flash name it in every answer, which puts Qodo (100% of Google answers) on par with CodeRabbit for presence.
The OpenAI models come next. GPT-5.6 Sol and ChatGPT name Qodo in all five answers, and GPT-5.6 Luna names it in four. That gives Qodo (93.3% of OpenAI answers).
The Anthropic models split. Claude Opus 5 names Qodo in all five answers, while Claude and Claude Fable 5 name it in four each. That gives Qodo (86.7% of Anthropic answers).
The Perplexity models show the sharpest disagreement. Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro each name Qodo in 3 of 5 answers, for Qodo (60% of Perplexity answers). These two models spread their answers across other tools. Perplexity names CodeAnt AI and Greptile in 5 of 5 answers each. Sonar Reasoning Pro names SonarQube in 4 of 5.
A buyer who researches with Gemini sees both products in every answer. A buyer who researches with Perplexity sees CodeRabbit in every answer and Qodo in 3 of 5.
What do the answers say about each?
The models describe CodeRabbit as a general starting point and Qodo as a tool for larger, multi-repository teams.
- Claude Opus 5, on CodeRabbit: “the safest default for most teams”
- Sonar Reasoning Pro, on CodeRabbit: “best for teams wanting a dedicated PR bot for high‑quality summaries and comments across multiple git hosts”
- Gemini 3.5 Flash, on Qodo: “Strongest multi-repo context and a versioned rules engine for enterprise-grade governance.”
- Sonar Reasoning Pro, on Qodo: “best if you’re a platform / infra team with many services and need system-wide, multi‑repo impact analysis”
- Claude Opus 5, on the sources behind its answer: “CodeRabbit’s blog ranks CodeRabbit first, Qodo’s blog ranks Qodo first”
Qodo’s specialist framing is consistent with its counts: listed often, placed first once.
How do CodeRabbit and Qodo differ?
They differ on billing unit and on the team each is pitched at. The panel’s vendor records hold no pricing for either product, so the pricing below comes from the captured guides.
Pricing model
CodeRabbit bills per seat, and only developers who open pull requests count toward the bill.
Qodo sells a per-user Teams plan on annual or monthly billing. Its free Developer tier includes a monthly allowance of pull request reviews and IDE credits. Respan lists Qodo’s premium pricing as a con and calls it one of the more expensive options.
Who each is for
Qodo’s own comparison assigns small teams working in a single repository to CodeRabbit. It assigns enterprises with multiple repositories and compliance requirements to Qodo. Qodo wrote that page, so it is the vendor’s positioning of both products.
Levelop’s decision list sends teams that want the least noise and high trust to CodeRabbit. The same list sends teams that need review and better test coverage together to Qodo.
What each is known for
Respan describes CodeRabbit as widely adopted by open-source projects and engineering teams.
Respan credits Qodo with SOC 2 Type II compliance and flexible deployment options. Qodo’s own page lists on-premise and air-gapped deployment for regulated industries.
The models also lean on each vendor’s own site. The recorded answers cite docs.coderabbit.ai 22 times and qodo.ai 19 times.
When should you pick CodeRabbit?
Pick CodeRabbit if you want the product AI answers name first most often. It leads on first place, average position and consistency across models.
- Named in all 50 answers and first in 37 of 50.
- Ten of ten models name it in every answer, so no research route leaves it out.
- It reviews pull requests across GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps.
- Levelop’s FAQ lists CodeRabbit for precision and low noise.
More on its record is on the CodeRabbit vendor page.
When should you pick Qodo?
Pick Qodo if you run many repositories and want review findings tied to rules. It matches CodeRabbit on presence in the Google models and trails it on first place.
- Mentioned in 43 of 50 answers, the most of any tool after CodeRabbit.
- Both Gemini models name it in every answer.
- Qodo describes its product as enforcing rules defined across repositories, such as API contracts and security policies.
- Levelop reports that Qodo can write the missing test when it spots a coverage gap.
- Expect to find it through a shortlist. It was named first in 1 of 50 answers.
More on its record is on the Qodo vendor page.
How this sits against the CodeRabbit vs Qodo guides
The ranking guides compare features, prices and benchmarks. The panel counts which names AI answers produce, model by model.
Qodo’s blog
Qodo publishes its own comparison with CodeRabbit. The page frames CodeRabbit as an advisory model and Qodo as a governance model. Qodo cites Gartner Peer Insights recommendation rates that favour Qodo. The page says CodeRabbit stays focused on the current repository. GPT-5.6 Sol’s recorded answer credits CodeRabbit with strong multi-repository capabilities, so the vendor page and that model disagree.
Hacker News
One commenter wrote that their team found both tools worse than an in-house tool built as a thin wrapper around Claude or Codex. The comment sits in a thread about a different code review tool.
Levelop
Levelop compares CodeRabbit, Greptile, Qodo and GitHub Copilot, plus Semgrep for security. It warns that its benchmark numbers come from published comparisons and need care. The guide ends with a link to Levelop’s own site.
Respan
Respan gives both products the same rating and lists pros and cons for each. The comparison sits on a site that sells Respan’s own LLM tracing product.
None of these guides reports how often AI models name either product. The model-by-model split of CodeRabbit and Qodo is the material they lack.
How the sample was built
The panel ran 10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers, one answer per model and question pair. The five questions, verbatim:
- What is the best AI code review tool for an engineering team? Name specific products.
- Which AI code review tool would you recommend to an engineering team in 2026?
- Compare the top AI code review tool options right now.
- I’m an engineering team and I need an AI code review tool. What should I use and why?
- Best AI code review tool for a fast-moving startup?
The ten models form four families. OpenAI (GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Luna) and Anthropic (Claude Opus 5, Claude, Claude Fable 5) supply 15 answers each. Google (Gemini, Gemini 3.5 Flash) and Perplexity (Perplexity, Sonar Reasoning Pro) supply 10 each. The panel tracks 17 AI code review tools, and the models named 13 of them. Ellipsis, Sourcery, Bito and Baz were never named. The full method is on the method page.
What these counts cannot tell you
The counts measure presence in AI answers. They say nothing about review accuracy, uptime, support, price fairness or fit with your stack. Being named also differs from being recommended, because an answer can list a product only to warn against it.
Each model gave one answer per question, so the sample is one dated snapshot from the 2026-09 edition. Names were matched as text, so “Qodo Merge” counts as Qodo. The answers came through model APIs in English and can differ from what a consumer chat app shows.
The per-model split counts presence only. It does not show which model gave Qodo its one first place. Citation counts cover the citations returned in the recorded API responses, and coverage varies by model. No vendor can pay to appear, move or be removed.
Frequently asked questions
What are some alternatives to CodeRabbit?
Qodo is the most named alternative, at 43 of 50 answers. GitHub Copilot follows at 37 of 50 and Greptile at 36 of 50. The remaining named tools and their counts are on the AI code review index.
What are people saying about Qodo in their reviews?
The captured pages carry both pros and cons. Respan lists context-aware feedback that understands code intent among Qodo’s pros. Its cons for Qodo include unit test cases that often don’t run on the first attempt. Respan also lists custom rule setup that can take several days to configure. The panel measures naming, so none of these views changes Qodo’s count of 43 of 50.
Can CodeRabbit be self-hosted?
None of the captured guides answers it. GPT-5.6 Sol’s recorded answer lists self-hosting among CodeRabbit’s enterprise options. Treat that as one model’s claim and confirm it with CodeRabbit before you buy.
Is CodeRabbit free for open-source projects?
Yes, according to Respan, which lists free unlimited code reviews for all public and open-source repos. Confirm the current terms on CodeRabbit’s own pricing before you rely on it.
Is Qodo the same company as Codium?
Yes. Levelop describes Qodo as formerly Codium. The panel matched the name Qodo, so answers that used only the old name would not count toward Qodo’s 43 of 50.
