Bolt vs Replit (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say

Bolt is named in 48 of 50 AI answers and Replit in 46. See which models lean to each, how their pricing models differ and when each one fits.

Bolt is named in 48 of 50 recorded AI answers and Replit in 46. Bolt is named first in 4 answers and Replit in 2. The counts are close, and the models name Bolt slightly more often. Neither is the usual opening pick. Lovable leads the category in all ten models.

These are counts of how often each product is named. They do not measure which one builds better apps.

TL;DR

How often do AI models recommend Bolt and Replit?

Bolt is named in 48 answers to Replit’s 46, and first in 4 to Replit’s 2.

Product Named Answer share Named first First share Average position Category rank
Lovable (category leader, for reference) 50/50 Lovable 100% 40/50 Lovable 80% 1.32 First of 15
Bolt 48/50 Bolt 96% 4/50 Bolt 8% 2.5 Second of 15
Replit 46/50 Replit 92% 2/50 Replit 4% 3.67 Third of 15

Answer share is the share of the 50 answers that name a product. Named first counts the answers where it appears before any other tracked product. Bolt and Replit carry the same gap of 88 points between those two measures. The models list them almost every time and open with them almost never.

Lovable shows the opposite pattern. It opens 40 answers. Average position points the same way for Bolt and Replit. Bolt sits at 2.5 and Replit at 3.67, so Bolt tends to appear earlier in a list. Every answer and citation behind these rows is in the AI app builders index.

Which models prefer Bolt, and which prefer Replit?

Here “prefer” means “name more often”. Six of the ten models name both products in all five answers, so the whole difference sits in four models.

Model Bolt Replit
GPT-5.6 Sol 5/5 5/5
ChatGPT 5/5 5/5
GPT-5.6 Luna 5/5 5/5
Claude Opus 5 5/5 5/5
Claude 5/5 5/5
Claude Fable 5 5/5 4/5
Gemini 5/5 5/5
Gemini 3.5 Flash 5/5 4/5
Perplexity 5/5 4/5
Sonar Reasoning Pro 3/5 4/5

Bolt leads by one answer in Claude Fable 5, Gemini 3.5 Flash and Perplexity. Replit leads by one answer in Sonar Reasoning Pro. That model is also Bolt’s weakest in the panel, at Bolt 60%.

The sharpest split sits inside the Perplexity family. Perplexity names Bolt in all five answers and Replit in four. Sonar Reasoning Pro reverses the order. The two cancel out, and the family total is level at Bolt 80% and Replit 80% of 10 answers.

The other families lean one way or tie. The three OpenAI models name both in every answer, Bolt 100% and Replit 100% of 15. The three Anthropic models give Bolt 100% and Replit 93.3%. The two Google models give Bolt 100% and Replit 90%.

For a buyer the reading is short. If your team works in OpenAI models, the two are level in this sample. If it works in Anthropic or Google models, Bolt turns up in slightly more answers.

What do the answers say about each?

In the answers quoted here, Bolt is framed around speed and Replit around a full build-and-host workflow.

ChatGPT, asked to compare the top options, called Bolt.new “best for quick, visual prototypes and experimenting in-browser”. The same answer called Replit “best for flexible full-stack building, coding, and agent-assisted iteration”.

Claude described Bolt.new as “Great for generating full-stack apps quickly from a prompt, with live preview and one-click deploy.”

GPT-5.6 Sol, asked what to use for a web app built from a prompt, opened with “My default recommendation: Replit Agent”. It is the one quoted answer that leads with either product.

How do Bolt and Replit differ?

They differ on how AI work is billed and on where the backend lives. The panel records counts only. The pricing and audience points below come from the captured guides, and no price is stated here.

What each one is

Bolt is an AI app builder from StackBlitz. It runs in the browser on WebContainers, which execute Node.js inside the browser tab.

Replit started as a cloud IDE and grew into a platform with hosting and an AI agent. Replit’s own comparison page says every Replit app comes with a built-in database.

Pricing model

Bolt meters AI use in tokens. Its Pro plan raises the monthly token allowance. On the Teams plan each member gets a separate allotment, and tokens are not pooled. Bolt uses Supabase as its default database, and Supabase is a separate product with its own pricing.

Replit bills Agent usage by effort, so more complex requests use more credits. Its Core plan includes the AI agent, cloud compute and basic hosting. MindStudio notes that a Replit build does not start with a separate hosting or database bill.

MindStudio calls the two roughly comparable at entry level.

Who each is for

Vibe Coding Academy says Bolt gives experienced builders more control. Zite lists Bolt for developers who need fast frontend prototypes. MindStudio points to Bolt when an app is mostly frontend with little server-side logic.

Vibe Coding Academy calls Replit the right pick when you need a real development environment alongside the AI. Zite lists Replit for developers who want an all-in-one cloud IDE. MindStudio points to Replit when an app needs a real backend with persistent server-side logic.

What the answers cite

The recorded answers cite replit.com 11 times. It is one of the five vendor-owned hosts on the panel’s source list, and no Bolt domain appears on that list. Citation counts depend on which models return citations, so read this as a lean in the sources.

When should you pick Bolt?

Pick Bolt if you want the more often named of the two, or if your build is a fast prototype that lives mostly in the frontend.

When should you pick Replit?

Pick Replit if you want the backend, database and hosting in one place, and a product every model names in at least four of its five answers.

How this sits against the Bolt vs Replit guides

Four captured guides compare the two on features and price. This page counts the names ten AI models return to five buyer questions.

MindStudio compares backend depth, database support, auth, deployment, iteration reliability and pricing. It concludes with Replit for backend depth and long-term maintainability, and Bolt for speed and UI polish on a simple app. The page also promotes MindStudio’s own builder, Remy.

Replit’s comparison page is written by Replit. It lists Replit Agent, the built-in database, authentication and integrations. Beyond the title, it mentions Bolt in one place: an “Import from Bolt” link.

Vibe Coding Academy compares Bolt and Replit with Lovable. It states that none of the platforms wrote the guide. The same page sells a live cohort course on shipping a SaaS with Claude Code.

Zite’s comparison is written by Zite and adds Zite as a third option. It names Zite for non-technical teams building business apps. On the two-way question, it calls Replit the stronger all-around development platform and Bolt faster for prototypes.

Two of these publishers also appear in the answers’ citations. The recorded answers cite zite.com 63 times, the third most-cited host in the category. They cite vibecodingacademy.ai 38 times.

The guides judge the tools from hands-on use. This page adds a model-by-model count of the names AI answers return.

How the sample was built

10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. Each model answered each question once through its API. The method page sets out how answers are recorded and counted.

The panel covers four families. OpenAI has three models and 15 answers: GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT (GPT-5.6 Terra) and GPT-5.6 Luna. Anthropic has three models and 15 answers: Claude Opus 5, Claude (Claude Sonnet 5) and Claude Fable 5. Google has two models and 10 answers: Gemini (Gemini 3.6 Flash) and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Perplexity has two models and 10 answers: Perplexity (Sonar Pro) and Sonar Reasoning Pro.

The five questions, verbatim:

A mention counts when the answer contains the product’s name. Bolt counts as “Bolt” or “Bolt.new”. Replit counts as “Replit”.

What these counts cannot tell you

Answer share and named first count presence in answers. They carry no information about quality, uptime, support, pricing fairness or fit with your stack. An answer can name a product only to warn against it, so a name is a mention and may fall short of a recommendation.

Each model answered each question once, in the September edition. One changed answer can move a count. Names are matched as text, so a product described under an unlisted alias is missed. The answers come from model APIs, and consumer chat apps can answer differently. All five prompts are in English.

Citation counts cover only the citations each API returned, and coverage varies by model. The four captured guides are a sample of the pages that rank for “Bolt vs Replit”. See the full method for how each count is made.

Frequently asked questions

Is there anything better than Replit?

The panel does not rank quality, so it cannot say what is better. It can say what is named more. Lovable and Bolt both appear in more of the 50 answers than Replit. Which one fits your build depends on the tradeoffs the captured guides describe above.

Is Replit still the best?

No model names Replit more often than every other product. Lovable leads all ten models, and Replit ranks third of 15 on answer share. That ranking measures how often AI answers name it.

What are the downsides of Replit?

In the panel, Replit’s weak spot is position. It opens 2 of 50 answers. Vibe Coding Academy calls its effort-based pricing unpredictable. The same page says moving a Replit app to other hosting costs more than moving a Lovable or Bolt project. MindStudio notes past reliability issues on Replit’s infrastructure, mainly on the free tier.

Why is Replit so expensive?

The panel does not measure price. Zite, a competing builder, says Replit charges by how much work the AI Agent performs. Zite also says always-on hosting, database usage and autoscale charges stack up fast. MindStudio takes the other view and calls Replit’s bundled approach simpler to manage.

What are the downsides of Bolt?

In the panel, Bolt’s weakest model is Sonar Reasoning Pro, which names it in 3 of 5 answers. MindStudio says Bolt’s backend runs in the browser with no persistent server process. It also says larger changes can leave the UI, API and data model out of step. Vibe Coding Academy notes that backend and database setup in Bolt takes more manual effort.

Is Bolt the same as Bolt.new?

Yes. Bolt is officially called Bolt.new. The panel counts either name as Bolt.

Which is easier for beginners, Bolt or Replit?

The captured guides disagree. MindStudio says Bolt has the lower learning curve for non-developers building UI-heavy apps. Zite says Replit guides beginners more effectively. Vibe Coding Academy calls Replit the most complex entry experience of its three tools. None of the five panel questions asks about beginners, so the counts cannot settle it.
