Best Durable Alternatives (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Recommend
Durable is named in 24 of 50 AI answers. Hostinger, Squarespace, Framer, Shopify, Lovable and WordPress, counted across 10 models, with who should switch.
Durable is named in 24 of 50 recorded AI answers (Durable 48%) and first in 1 of 50. That puts it sixth of the 16 AI website builders the models named. Four alternatives are named more often: Hostinger in 38 of 50, Squarespace in 35, Framer in 28 and Shopify in 27. Lovable (22) and WordPress (16) sit below it. Wix leads the whole category at 48 of 50.
These are counts of names in AI answers. They are not tests of the products.
TL;DR
- Durable is known but rarely put first. All ten models name it, and only one answer opens with it.
- Cost-led buyers should look at Hostinger. It is the most named of the six alternatives here, and two models name it more often than any other builder.
- For a startup landing page, Framer is the model favourite. It takes more first places than any product except Wix.
- Shopify is the answer when the site is a shop, and Lovable when the site has to behave like software.
- Perplexity is where Durable is strongest. It names Durable in all five of its answers.
Where does Durable sit in AI answers?
Durable sits sixth of 16 named products, in the middle of the category.
Measured: named 24 of 50 (Durable 48%), first 1 of 50 (Durable 2%), average position 4.96.
Every one of the ten models names Durable at least once, so the name travels across the whole panel. Placement is the weak point. Its single first place comes from Gemini’s answer to the small-business question, which opens its list with Durable. An average position of 4.96 means that when Durable appears, four other products usually come before it. The gap between named and named first is 46 points.
The models name it for speed and a bundle of business tools. Gemini gives its best fit as “Local service-based businesses, solopreneurs, and fast setups.” Perplexity names it for a prompt-to-site workflow with built-in CRM, bookings, invoicing and payments. GPT-5.6 Sol files it under the fastest simple service-business site. Durable’s own site, durable.com, drew 8 citations in the recorded answers.
The captured directory listings describe the same bundle. One lists a built-in CRM, invoicing tools and marketing automation alongside the site builder. The same listing shows a Free plan beside paid Starter and Scale plans. The full measured record is on Durable’s vendor page.
2. Hostinger
Pick Hostinger instead of Durable if the monthly bill decides the build and a plain business site is enough.
Measured: named 38 of 50 (Hostinger 76%), first 1 of 50 (Hostinger 2%), average position 3.16.
Hostinger is the budget answer, and the models say so directly. Gemini put it in one line: “Go with Hostinger if you are looking for the lowest overall cost.” Claude and Gemini 3.5 Flash name it in all five of their answers, and both name it more often than any other product, Wix included. Across the two Google models it appears every time (Hostinger 100%).
Presence is not the problem. Placement is. Hostinger is named first once, and its 74-point gap between named and named first is the widest in the category. The models list it as the value option beside a different default. Claude Opus 5 adds one caution: Hostinger offers a trial, not a free plan.
Pros
- Named in 38 of 50 answers, the highest count of the six alternatives
- Leads the per-model count for Claude and Gemini 3.5 Flash
- Appears in every answer from the two Google models
- Its own site, hostinger.com, drew 7 citations in the recorded answers
Cons
- First in just 1 of 50 answers
- The widest named-versus-first gap in the category, at 74 points
- ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Sol include it in only 2 of 5 answers each
- Claude Opus 5 reports no free plan, only a trial
Pricing: no pricing is recorded in this edition’s evidence. The answers position it as the low-cost option.
Best for: small businesses where cost outranks design control.
3. Squarespace
Pick Squarespace instead of Durable if the site has to look finished on day one and brand presentation matters more than back-office tools.
Measured: named 35 of 50 (Squarespace 70%), first 2 of 50 (Squarespace 4%), average position 2.86.
Squarespace gets the earliest placement of any alternative on this page. Its average position of 2.86 is second only to Wix across the category, so when a model names it, the name tends to come near the top. Claude names it in all five answers.
The reasons are about design. Perplexity recommends it for “a polished brand presentation.” GPT-5.6 Sol lists it for portfolios, consultants and polished brand sites. It is also the one alternative here that a captured Durable guide names directly. That guide describes it as delivering polished, template-based websites with strong e-commerce and marketing tools. Gemini 3.5 Flash is the outlier, naming it in 2 of 5 answers.
Pros
- Average position 2.86, the earliest placement among the six alternatives
- Claude includes it in all five of its answers
- A captured Durable alternatives listing names it as a direct alternative
- Every model on the panel mentions it at least once
Cons
- First in only 2 of 50 answers despite that early placement
- Gemini 3.5 Flash names it in 2 of 5
- Nothing in this edition’s evidence records its prices
Pricing: not recorded in this edition’s evidence.
Best for: creative and service businesses that sell on presentation.
4. Framer
Pick Framer instead of Durable if the job is a startup landing page rather than a local service site.
Measured: named 28 of 50 (Framer 56%), first 8 of 50 (Framer 16%), average position 3.71.
Framer is the alternative the models are most willing to put first. Its 8 first places are more than any product except Wix, and they come from the startup landing page question. ChatGPT opened that answer with “Best overall for a startup landing page: Framer.” GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Luna and Claude Opus 5 made the same call in their landing page answers.
Outside that question it is named less often, which is why its answer share (Framer 56%) sits behind Hostinger and Squarespace. The Anthropic models are its strongest base (Framer 80%). Sonar Reasoning Pro names it once in five answers. GPT-5.6 Sol also marks its limit: weaker for complex stores and operational business features.
Pros
- First in 8 of 50 answers, the most of any alternative on this page
- Top pick in the landing page answers from ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Luna and Claude Opus 5
- Strongest with the Anthropic models (Framer 80%)
Cons
- Sonar Reasoning Pro names it in 1 of 5 answers
- Answer share trails two other alternatives on this page
- GPT-5.6 Sol calls it weaker for complex stores and business operations
Pricing: this edition’s evidence holds no pricing for Framer.
Best for: startups that need a polished launch or waitlist page.
5. Shopify
Pick Shopify instead of Durable if the website’s main job is selling products.
Measured: named 27 of 50 (Shopify 54%), first 0 of 50 (Shopify 0%), average position 4.44.
Shopify is named as a specialist, never as a default. It appears in more than half the answers and is never named first. The models bring it in as the exception to their main pick. Gemini’s summary sends buyers to Shopify when running an online store is the core focus.
The OpenAI models name it most (Shopify 73.3%), with ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Sol at 4 of 5 each. Gemini 3.5 Flash names it once. GPT-5.6 Sol also draws the boundary from the other side: overkill for a website that is not a store. Shopify’s own site, shopify.com, supplied 6 citations in the recorded answers.
Pros
- Strongest with the OpenAI models (Shopify 73.3%)
- ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Sol each include it in 4 of 5 answers
- Treated as the store specialist rather than one builder among many
Cons
- Never named first in 50 answers
- Gemini 3.5 Flash mentions it in 1 of 5
- GPT-5.6 Sol flags it as overkill for a site that is not a store
Pricing: no pricing appears in this edition’s record.
Best for: businesses whose revenue comes mainly from online product sales.
7. Lovable
Pick Lovable instead of Durable if the website is really a product: a dashboard, a prototype or a tool with logins and data.
Measured: named 22 of 50 (Lovable 44%), first 1 of 50 (Lovable 2%), average position 4.73.
Lovable ranks just below Durable on mentions, and the models treat it as a different kind of product. GPT-5.6 Sol splits the market in two and puts Lovable with the app builders: “These tools generate functioning software rather than merely arranging website sections.” Claude Opus 5 draws the same line between site builders and full-stack application builders, and names Lovable in all five of its answers.
ChatGPT never names it. Five of five on one model and zero on another is the widest split for any product on this page. The Google models lean towards it (Lovable 70%), and Gemini’s answers pair it with Base44 as a prompt-driven builder.
Pros
- Claude Opus 5 includes it in every one of its five answers
- Well covered by the two Google models (Lovable 70%)
- Covers app logic that page builders leave out, on GPT-5.6 Sol’s split
Cons
- ChatGPT names it in 0 of 5 answers
- Only nine of the ten models name it
- Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro each name it once
Pricing: this edition records no Lovable pricing.
Best for: founders building an MVP or interactive tool rather than a brochure site.
8. WordPress
Pick WordPress instead of Durable if content and blogging will drive the site, and control of the platform matters more than setup speed.
Measured: named 16 of 50 (WordPress 32%), first 0 of 50 (WordPress 0%), average position 6.5.
WordPress is named late and by a narrower slice of the panel. Its average position of 6.5 is the latest of any product on this page, and eight of the ten models name it. Claude supplies much of its presence with 4 of 5.
The reasons given are about content and control. Claude’s answer points to WordPress.com when blogging and content marketing sit at the centre of the plan. GPT-5.6 Sol’s decision table sends custom workflows or unusual functionality to WordPress or a developer, not an AI-only builder. The answers also reach WordPress through 10Web, which GPT-5.6 Sol describes as a builder for AI-generated WordPress sites.
Pros
- Claude names it in 4 of 5 answers
- Tied to content-led growth in Claude’s recommendation
- Offered as the route for custom functionality by GPT-5.6 Sol
Cons
- Average position 6.5, the latest on this page
- ChatGPT and Gemini 3.5 Flash never name it
- Zero first places across the panel
Pricing: not recorded in this edition’s evidence.
Best for: content-heavy sites that need plugins, blogging depth or platform ownership.
How the alternatives compare
Four alternatives are named more often than Durable, two less often, and only Framer takes first place much more often.
| Rank | Product | Named | Named first | Average position | Models naming it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wix | 48/50 | 37/50 | 1.58 | 10 of 10 |
| 2 | Hostinger | 38/50 | 1/50 | 3.16 | 10 of 10 |
| 3 | Squarespace | 35/50 | 2/50 | 2.86 | 10 of 10 |
| 4 | Framer | 28/50 | 8/50 | 3.71 | 10 of 10 |
| 5 | Shopify | 27/50 | 0/50 | 4.44 | 10 of 10 |
| 6 | Durable (reference) | 24/50 | 1/50 | 4.96 | 10 of 10 |
| 7 | Lovable | 22/50 | 1/50 | 4.73 | 9 of 10 |
| 8 | WordPress | 16/50 | 0/50 | 6.5 | 8 of 10 |
Wix is the category default and the only product the models put first most of the time. Below it, the pattern is wide presence and rare first places. Hostinger and Squarespace are named far more often than Durable, yet they sit on the same low first-place counts. Framer is the exception, because one question hands it the top spot. Lovable is named nearly as often as Durable and appears slightly earlier in the answers that include it. Every answer and cited source sits in the AI website builders category record.
Where the models disagree
The models agree that Durable belongs in the conversation and disagree sharply on how often.
| Model | Durable | Hostinger | Squarespace | Framer | Shopify | Lovable | WordPress |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | 1/5 | 2/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 2/5 |
| ChatGPT | 1/5 | 2/5 | 3/5 | 2/5 | 4/5 | 0/5 | 0/5 |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | 3/5 | 4/5 | 3/5 | 4/5 | 3/5 | 1/5 | 1/5 |
| Claude Opus 5 | 2/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 5/5 | 2/5 |
| Claude | 2/5 | 5/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 2/5 | 4/5 |
| Claude Fable 5 | 3/5 | 4/5 | 3/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 3/5 | 3/5 |
| Gemini | 3/5 | 5/5 | 3/5 | 3/5 | 3/5 | 3/5 | 1/5 |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash | 1/5 | 5/5 | 2/5 | 2/5 | 1/5 | 4/5 | 0/5 |
| Perplexity | 5/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 2/5 | 3/5 | 1/5 | 2/5 |
| Sonar Reasoning Pro | 3/5 | 3/5 | 4/5 | 1/5 | 3/5 | 1/5 | 1/5 |
Perplexity is Durable’s strongest model. It names Durable in all five answers, level with Wix and ahead of every alternative on this page. Sonar Reasoning Pro, the other Perplexity model, names it in 3 of 5.
ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Sol sit at the other end. Each names Durable once and reaches for Shopify four times instead. Gemini 3.5 Flash also names Durable once, while naming Hostinger in all five answers and Lovable in four.
Claude Opus 5 is the Lovable model, at five of five. Claude is the WordPress model, at four of five. The panel does not agree on a leader either. Eight models lead with Wix, while Claude and Gemini 3.5 Flash lead with Hostinger.
How the sample was built
The sample is 10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers, edition 2026-09. Each model answered each prompt once. The five questions, verbatim:
- What is the best AI website builder for a small business? Name specific products.
- Which AI website builder would you recommend to a small business in 2026?
- Compare the top AI website builder options right now.
- I’m a small business and I need an AI website builder. What should I use and why?
- Best AI website builder for a startup landing page?
The models come from four families. OpenAI supplies GPT-5.6 Sol, ChatGPT and GPT-5.6 Luna, for 15 answers. Anthropic supplies Claude Opus 5, Claude and Claude Fable 5, for 15. Google supplies Gemini and Gemini 3.5 Flash, for 10. Perplexity supplies Perplexity and Sonar Reasoning Pro, for 10.
The panel tracked 17 products in this category and 16 were named. Dorik was never named. “Named” counts an answer that mentions the product at all. “Named first” counts an answer where it appears before any other tracked product. The full method is at how the panel runs.
How this sits against the Durable alternatives guides
The captured Google results for “Durable Alternatives” in Australia mostly read “durable” as an adjective. They cover bathroom fittings, a field shelter roof, beer siphons and hammock gear. One is a hammock forum thread asking for alternatives to the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. The results about Durable the product are directory listings.
The Epirus tool directory describes Durable in two different ways. Its overview calls Durable a digital operations platform with task and project management, time tracking and resource allocation. Its FAQ calls Durable an AI-powered website builder that generates a site with images, copy and lead forms. The page links to a Webflow listing. Its “Visit Website” links point to durable.sjv.io rather than Durable’s own domain. The captured page shows no disclosure statement about those links. Its answer on marketing tools repeats its answer on invoicing word for word.
The AI Tools Forest listing profiles Durable as one system for websites, CRM, invoicing and marketing. It names four alternatives: Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Dorik. None of the ten models on this panel named Dorik. The listing’s plan table shows Free, Starter and Scale, while its FAQ refers to Business and Mogul plans. The page carries a “Claim Listing” link.
Neither listing mentions Hostinger, Framer, Shopify, Lovable or WordPress. Both describe what Durable does. This page counts which products AI answers name beside it, and how that changes from one model to the next.
What these counts cannot tell you
These counts measure presence in AI answers, not product quality, uptime, support or fit with a particular business. Being named is not the same as being recommended, because an answer can name a product only to warn against it. Each model answered each prompt once, so one run can differ from the next. This is one dated snapshot, edition 2026-09. Product names are matched as strings, so a closely related product name can carry a mention. API answers can differ from what the same model says in a consumer chat app. All five prompts are in English. No position on this page is sold or sponsored.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most named alternative to Durable in AI answers?
Hostinger, among the alternatives on this page. It is named in 38 of 50 recorded answers, mostly as the budget option. Wix, the category leader, is named more often still, but the models treat it as the general default rather than as a Durable alternative for a specific job.
Which Durable alternative do AI models put first most often?
Framer. Its first places come from the startup landing page question, where several models open their answer with it. Hostinger, Squarespace, Shopify, Lovable and WordPress are rarely or never named first.
Is Durable a website builder or a business platform?
The captured listings describe both. AI Tools Forest presents it as one system covering the website, CRM, invoicing and marketing. The models mostly name it for a fast site for a service business with those tools built in.
Does Durable have a free plan?
The AI Tools Forest listing shows a Free plan. The Epirus directory also describes a free tier. Check current plan terms with Durable before choosing.
Which AI model names Durable most often?
Perplexity. It names Durable in all five of its answers. ChatGPT, GPT-5.6 Sol and Gemini 3.5 Flash each name it once.
How often are these counts updated?
Editions run monthly. This page reports edition 2026-09, and the next edition can move any of these counts.
