Suno vs Soundraw (2026): What ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini Say

Suno is named in 45 of 50 AI answers, Soundraw in 28. See which of 10 models lean each way, and when each product fits, from the recorded answers.

AI models name Suno more often. In the September 2026 edition, Suno appears in 45 of 50 recorded answers and is named first in 32. Soundraw appears in 28 of 50 and is named first in 11. The gap on totals is wide, but it is not uniform. Five of the ten models name Soundraw in all five of their answers, and three record it as their leader.

This page counts what AI answers name. It does not rate either product.

TL;DR

How often do AI models recommend Suno and Soundraw?

Suno is named in 45 of 50 answers and Soundraw in 28 of 50. Suno is the category leader, so the table needs no reference row.

Vendor Named Answer share Named first First share Average position Category rank
Suno 45/50 Suno 90% 32/50 Suno 64% 1.64 1 of 15
Soundraw 28/50 Soundraw 56% 11/50 Soundraw 22% 2.29 3 of 15

Answer share is the share of recorded answers that named the product. Named first is the share where it appeared before any other tracked product.

The first-place gap is sharper than the mention gap. Suno is named first in 32 answers and Soundraw in 11. When a model names Suno, it usually leads with it: its average position is 1.64. Soundraw sits lower in the answers that name it, at 2.29. Its named-versus-first gap is 34 points against Suno’s 26, so more of its mentions come further down the list.

The models also cite the two vendors’ own sites almost equally. Across the recorded answers, suno.com is cited 36 times and soundraw.io 35 times. The difference between the two products is in how often they are named, not in how often their own pages are used as sources.

Udio sits between them at 33 of 50. It is never named first.

Which models prefer Suno, and which prefer Soundraw?

Suno leads seven of the ten models and Soundraw leads the other three. The split runs by model family more than by product.

Model Family Suno Soundraw
GPT-5.6 Sol OpenAI 4/5 0/5
GPT-5.6 Terra (ChatGPT) OpenAI 5/5 0/5
GPT-5.6 Luna OpenAI 5/5 0/5
Claude Opus 5 Anthropic 5/5 1/5
Claude Sonnet 5 Anthropic 4/5 2/5
Claude Fable 5 Anthropic 4/5 5/5
Gemini 3.6 Flash Google 5/5 5/5
Gemini 3.5 Flash Google 5/5 5/5
Sonar Pro Perplexity 4/5 5/5
Sonar Reasoning Pro Perplexity 4/5 5/5

Perplexity leans Soundraw. Sonar Pro and Sonar Reasoning Pro name Soundraw in every answer and Suno in four of five. No product is named more often than Soundraw in either model.

Google names both every time. Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash name Suno and Soundraw in all ten of their answers. The Google family is the only one where the two are level.

Anthropic splits. This is the sharpest disagreement on the page. Claude Opus 5 names Suno in 5 of 5 and Soundraw once, in its answer to the royalty-free background music question. Claude Sonnet 5 names Soundraw twice. Claude Fable 5 reverses the pattern and names Soundraw in 5 of 5, ahead of Suno at 4 of 5. Three models from one vendor, given the same five questions, name Soundraw once, twice and five times. One Claude Sonnet 5 answer also writes the name as SOUNDRAW, which the count does not match.

OpenAI’s zero for Soundraw needs care. The three OpenAI models are recorded at 0 of 5 for Soundraw. Their answers do name it, but they write it as SOUNDRAW in capitals, and the count matches the spelling Soundraw. GPT-5.6 Luna heads its answer to the royalty-free question with “Best overall: SOUNDRAW”. The OpenAI column above records the spelling, not the absence of the product. Even if every OpenAI answer were counted for Soundraw, Suno’s totals for mentions and for first place would still be higher. The OpenAI split between the two is the one comparison on this page the count cannot settle.

What do the answers say about each?

The quotes below are copied from the recorded answers.

On Suno, Gemini 3.6 Flash heads its answer to the 2026 recommendation question with “Best Overall for Most Video Creators: Suno AI”. Claude Fable 5 calls Suno “The most widely recommended overall pick.” in its comparison answer.

On Soundraw, GPT-5.6 Sol answers the royalty-free question with “SOUNDRAW is my first choice”. Claude Fable 5, in the same question, calls Soundraw “Probably the safest all-around choice for commercial background music.”

Claude Fable 5 appears on both sides. It names Suno as the overall pick and Soundraw as the pick for commercial background music. Its answer turns on whether the question is about songs or about background tracks.

How do Suno and Soundraw differ?

The captured pages treat Suno as a song generator and Soundraw as a background-track editor. Neither vendor record in this edition holds a pricing model or a stated audience, so this section draws on those pages.

What each makes. Oakgen describes Suno as generating complete songs with vocals, instruments and production from text prompts. The same page describes Soundraw as generating customisable instrumental tracks for background use in videos, podcasts and presentations. Glad-ia-tor lists Soundraw as having no vocals or lyrics.

How each is edited. Oakgen records that Soundraw lets a user add, remove or rearrange sections after generation. It records that Suno’s control runs through the prompt, with no section-level editing after generation. Glad-ia-tor notes that Suno Studio, a browser workstation with stem tools, is limited to Suno’s Premier tier.

How each charges. Suno sells plans metered in credits. Its free plan carries no commercial use. Glad-ia-tor also reports that Suno’s paid tiers are moving to monthly download caps with paid top-ups. Soundraw’s entry Creator plan includes unlimited MP3 downloads. Soundraw grants commercial licences on all paid plans. Suno grants full commercial rights on Pro plans and above.

Who each is for. Oakgen lists Suno for music with vocals, such as intros, jingles and themed songs. It lists Soundraw for background music in YouTube videos, tutorials and courses. Soundverse’s comparison places Soundraw with editors who need adaptive score options.

Access for developers. Glad-ia-tor records no official public API for Suno. It records Soundraw’s API as enterprise-only on a custom quote.

When should you pick Suno?

Pick Suno if you need a finished song with vocals, or if you want the name the models reach for most often.

The measured caution is narrow. Suno’s four-of-five showing in the Perplexity models is its lowest family result, and those two models put Soundraw above it.

When should you pick Soundraw?

Pick Soundraw if the job is instrumental background music cut to a video edit.

The measured caution is also narrow. Soundraw is named first in 11 of 50 answers, and Claude Opus 5 names it once. On the recorded count it trails Suno in the OpenAI and Anthropic families, draws level in Google and leads only in Perplexity.

How this sits against the Suno vs Soundraw guides

The ranking comparison pages judge the products. This page counts what AI answers name. Several of those pages carry a commercial stake worth knowing.

HookGenius sells prompt tools and a paid guide for Suno. It states that it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Suno. Its quick-fix table matches Suno to creative and vocal work and Soundraw to simple background music.

Oakgen runs its own music generator on other models and says Suno is not available on its platform. It says it tested both platforms on real-world video scoring scenarios. It concludes that Soundraw is the more practical daily tool for most video creators. Its method is its own testing, not a count of AI answers.

Glad-ia-tor scores both products with arena ratings and a crowd vote. It rates Suno above Soundraw on audio quality. It gives both the same crowd score.

Soundverse is itself an AI music vendor, and its comparison concludes in favour of Soundverse. It describes Soundraw as focused on editable loops and dynamic arrangement layers.

Beatoven, a tracked vendor in this category, also ranks with a Suno vs Soundraw page. The capture of that page returned a login screen, so its content is not described here.

None of these pages reports what AI models say. This page adds the per-model split: which of the ten models name each product, how often, and where they disagree. The full answer record is in the AI music category index, and each product has a vendor record at Suno and Soundraw.

How the sample was built

10 models x 5 fixed prompts = 50 recorded answers. The models run through their APIs, one answer per model and question. The five questions, verbatim:

  1. What is the best AI music generation tool for a video creator? Name specific products.
  2. Which AI music generation tool would you recommend to a video creator in 2026?
  3. Compare the top AI music generation tool options right now.
  4. I’m a video creator and I need an AI music generation tool. What should I use and why?
  5. Best AI music generation tool for royalty-free background music?

The ten models come from four families. OpenAI supplies GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra (the ChatGPT model) and GPT-5.6 Luna. Anthropic supplies Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Fable 5. Google supplies Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Perplexity supplies Sonar Pro and Sonar Reasoning Pro. The panel tracks 17 AI music vendors, and 15 were named. The full procedure is on the method page.

What these counts cannot tell you

The counts measure presence in AI answers. They say nothing about sound quality, licence safety, support or fit with your workflow. Being named also differs from being recommended, because an answer can name a product to warn against it.

Each model answered each question once, so a single answer can move a model’s row. The run is one dated snapshot. The models answered through their APIs, which can differ from the consumer chat apps. The questions are in English. Three of the five mention video creators and a fourth asks about royalty-free background music, which is the job the captured pages assign to Soundraw.

Names are matched as written strings. That is why the answers that write SOUNDRAW in capitals are not counted for Soundraw.

No vendor paid to appear, to be reordered or to be left out.

Frequently asked questions

What AI music is better than Suno?

This panel does not rank quality, so it cannot say any product is better. On the count, no AI music product in the edition is named more often than Suno. Udio is next at 33 of 50 and Soundraw third at 28 of 50. For background music, Glad-ia-tor names ElevenLabs Music as a legally cleaner commercial alternative to Suno.

What is the Suno controversy?

The controversy is copyright. Glad-ia-tor reports that a Warner Music partnership settled the copyright litigation against Suno. It reports that free accounts then lost downloads and commercial rights. It also reports that Suno’s ownership language changed from “you own this” to “you have commercial rights”. None of this is measured by the panel.

Is Soundraw free?

Only for previews. Glad-ia-tor describes the free tier as preview-only, with no file downloadable without a subscription. Commercial licences start with the paid plans.

Do music artists use Suno?

No captured page measures how many artists use Suno, and neither does this panel. Glad-ia-tor records that Suno Studio exports to Ableton Live or Logic Pro. The same page reports that reviewers warn against Suno for releases that need clean copyright provenance. For releasing to streaming services, it records that Soundraw’s Artist plans allow distribution to Spotify and other services.

Does ChatGPT recommend Suno or Soundraw?

It names both. GPT-5.6 Terra, the ChatGPT model, names Suno in all five answers. Its answers also name Soundraw, written as SOUNDRAW, which the count does not match. In one answer it opens with “Recommendation: SOUNDRAW”. Claude and Gemini are split out model by model in the table above.
