## What GitHub Copilot is

GitHub Copilot includes a coding agent for Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Pro+ customers. It works on assigned software-development tasks and proposes changes through pull requests.

The agent starts when a user assigns it a GitHub issue or prompts it in VS Code. It creates a development environment with GitHub Actions, analyses the codebase and pushes commits to a draft pull request. It can use configured MCP servers and images attached to issues, tag users for review, and respond to review comments with proposed code changes. Human approval is required before its pull requests run CI/CD workflows.

Pricing: Beginning June 4, 2025, the coding agent uses one premium request for each model request it makes.
