You are assessing software visibility in AI answers and need to know what the counts measure before you act on them. We help software founders and growth teams understand their products' measured visibility in AI answers. In the September 2026 product analytics sample, Amplitude and Mixpanel were named in every recorded answer and PostHog was named first most often, which tells you how each name appears in AI answers rather than which tool to buy.

The detail sits in the prompts. PostHog was named first in nine of ten answers to the prompt asking which product analytics tool to recommend to a startup in 2026. <!-- cite:ev_sup1_5 --> Amplitude was named first in nine of ten answers to the prompt asking to compare the top options. <!-- cite:ev_sup1_6 --> We report the dated sample and the exact questions so you can judge whether a visibility comparison supports your conclusion. Your decision is how to interpret an AI-visibility comparison. Product-purchase decisions require separate evidence about your requirements and the products.

## What does this PostHog, Amplitude and Mixpanel comparison measure?

It measures two things: how often each name appears in an AI answer, and how often it appears before any other tracked vendor. Our product analytics research compares mention frequency and first position for PostHog, Amplitude and Mixpanel across recorded buyer questions.

A mention counts when the vendor's name or a known alias appears in the answer text. Answer share measures whether a tracked vendor appears in an answer. Named first records the earliest appearance among all 16 tracked vendors, even though this article compares three.

The product analytics category tracks 16 products, of which 13 were named. This article selects three of them for comparison: PostHog, Amplitude and Mixpanel. You can read the full category in the [product analytics Index](https://www.memetik.ai/index/product-analytics).

## How often were PostHog, Amplitude and Mixpanel named in AI answers?

Amplitude and Mixpanel were named in all 50 recorded answers. <!-- cite:ev_sup1_2 --> <!-- cite:ev_sup1_3 --> PostHog was named in 48. <!-- cite:ev_sup1_1 --> Amplitude and Mixpanel therefore share the highest answer share in this category. You need to compare how often each is named and how often each appears first, so both columns sit in one table.

| Vendor | Named answers | Answer share | Named first answers | Named first share |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| PostHog | 48/50 | 96% | 24/50 | 48% |

| Mixpanel | 50/50 | 100% | 11/50 | 22% |

The two measures point in different directions. [Amplitude](https://www.memetik.ai/vendors/amplitude) and [Mixpanel](https://www.memetik.ai/vendors/mixpanel) lead on presence. [PostHog](https://www.memetik.ai/vendors/posthog) leads on position, at 48% of answers against 30% and 22%. <!-- cite:ev_sup1_1 -->

## How was the September 2026 product analytics sample collected?

The September 2026 product analytics category contains 50 recorded answers from ten models across five fixed English-language buyer prompts. We report the dated sample and the exact questions so you can judge whether a visibility comparison supports your conclusion. Every raw answer is linked from the figures. Prompts stay fixed between editions.

Four limits shape what the counts can carry. Alias matching is string-based. API models differ from consumer chat products. Prompts are English and not localised. ChatGPT via API returns few citations, so source counts under-represent it. Our full [method](https://www.memetik.ai/method) sets out the collection and matching rules.

## What can this visibility comparison not decide for you?

It cannot decide which tool to buy. First position records where a product name appears in the text. Product quality, purchase suitability and recommendation strength are separate questions.

One prompt-model response was collected for each combination in this edition. The results are a descriptive snapshot. Repeated, controlled trials would be needed to estimate repeatability or isolate effects of wording. A difference of one or two answers describes this sample. The run does not establish whether that difference would persist or disappear in another run. You want to inspect the different results across the five buyer questions and the limits of that one dated sample, which is why every figure links back to the raw answers. ## Method and limits

Edition 2026-09: 5 fixed buyer prompts per category, sent to 10 models through their APIs. Each category contains 50 recorded answers. Answer share is the fraction of answers naming a vendor. Named first records the vendor's position before other tracked vendors, not the strength of a recommendation. This is one dated sample; small differences can reflect answer variation. API responses can differ from consumer chat products. Full method: https://www.memetik.ai/method. Memetik is a Searchmaxxed publication. Charts and figures: CC BY 4.0.
