# Memetik Index: method

Source: https://www.memetik.ai/method

The Memetik Index measures which startups AI models name when buyers ask. Each category has 5 fixed buyer prompts. Each prompt is sent once per edition to GPT-5.6 Sol (gpt-5.6-sol), ChatGPT (gpt-5.6-terra), GPT-5.6 Luna (gpt-5.6-luna), Claude Opus 5 (claude-opus-5), Claude (claude-sonnet-5), Claude Fable 5 (claude-fable-5), Gemini (gemini-3.6-flash), Gemini 3.5 Flash (gemini-3.5-flash), Perplexity (sonar-pro), Sonar Reasoning Pro (sonar-reasoning-pro) through the DataForSEO LLM Responses API with web search enabled. Prompts stay fixed between editions.

**Answer share**: answers naming the vendor ÷ total answers in the category. **Named first**: answers where the vendor appears before any other tracked vendor ÷ total answers. A mention counts when the vendor's name or a known alias appears in the answer text.

Limits: answers vary run to run, so small differences are noise. Alias matching is string-based. API models differ from consumer chat products. Prompts are English and not localised. ChatGPT via API returns few citations, so source counts under-represent it.

Edition 2026-09: 33 categories, 1650 answers. Editions publish monthly. Every raw answer is published on its category page.
